Computerhoroskoper og astrologi som fag
1980
1980'erne rummede en ny revolution i astrologien: Computeriseret astrologi. Mange forskellige firmaer udsendte forskellige slags computerberegnede horoskoper og tydninger, som i Amerika navnlig annonceredes i tidsskrifterne 'Dell Horoscope' og 'American Astrology'.
Mange af disse firmaer varede kun få måneder eller få år. Programmeringssprog som BASIC blev tilgængelige for astrologerne, så de kunne skrive program,mer, der opfyldte deres egne behov. Et yderligere skub gav de mange computertydningsprogrammer, skrevet til professionelle astrologer. Computerastrologernes tid var kommet.
Robert Hand lægger grunden til endnu en ny stil i de astrologiske tekster i form af en enklere, mere sammenhængende akademisk-lignende stil, som passer bedre til den nye psykologi-orienterede astrologi.
I de tidlige 80'ere tvinges mange amerikanske astrologer og astrologiske firmaer til at lukke af juridiske årsager. Mange af 70'ernes hippie-foretagender grupperer sig påny under New Age bevægelseen. Vægten flyttes fra kultlignnede livstil, magi, talismaner, røgelse og halssmykker over til biodynamisk føde, vegetarisk levevis, krystalenergier, bio-feedback og praktisk orienteret astrologi. Mantraer og hermetisk goggledigook glider over i high-tech og business.
